C&DS · Constraints & Demand Synchronization

Software that knows where your constraint is.

Your ERP records everything — and decides nothing. C&DS is the decision-support layer on top: it checks every promise against real capacity, replenishes on actual consumption, and tells the whole chain what to do first.

Forty years of TOC practice, compiled into software.

–40% Inventory through Brabantia's global supply chain, run by C&DS modules.
–50% Lead time at TKF — C&DS integrated with their ERP across three plants.

How it works

From ERP data to focused decisions

C&DS doesn't replace your systems — it makes them decisive. The ERP stays the system of record; C&DS becomes the system of decision.

01

Connect to your ERP

C&DS runs alongside the ERP you already have — past implementations integrated with Microsoft Dynamics ERPs, among others. No rip-and-replace: orders, stock and routings flow in; decisions flow out.

02

Model the constraint and the buffers

The plant and chain are modelled with a structural distinction between constraints and non-constraints — so protection goes where it counts, and only there.

03

Plan against finite capacity

Every customer request is reviewed against real capacity and inventory before commitment — make-to-order, make-to-stock or hybrid. A plan that ignores the constraint is fiction; C&DS makes it visible at the moment of the promise.

04

Execute on buffer priorities

Red-amber-green buffer status is the single priority signal for the shop floor and purchasing alike. Everyone works from the same list, and expediting meetings disappear.

05

Improve with POOGI

Every hole in a buffer gets a cause; C&DS automatically generates Pareto analyses that point to the obstacle with the biggest impact. Fix it, shrink the buffer, repeat.

The instruments

Six instruments, one logic

Each instrument answers one operational question — all of them anchored to the same constraint-based logic.

Plan

Finite Capacity Planning

Reviews every customer request against operational constraints — capacity and inventory — before commitment. Focused on the bottleneck and buffers: a stable plan that stays in line with reality without becoming over-sophisticated.

Replenish

Dynamic Replenishment

Availability at minimum inventory for purchasing, finished goods and raw materials — C&DS Classic algorithms or DDMRP logic, with dynamic adjustments and pipeline control.

Execute

Buffer Management

A unique technique that creates the necessary protection for a global supply chain while avoiding over-protection. The right signals for smooth flow, across the entire chain.

Measure

Performance Measurement

An online view of real performance and the reasons for deviation — reliable delivery performance with minimal inventory, visible while it happens rather than in next month's report.

Improve

POOGI

The diagnostic module: queue monitoring and event tracking map the obstacles to flow, and automatically generated Pareto analyses identify the causes with the most impact.

Decide

Make / Buy / Ship / Priority

Continuous monitoring of rapidly changing priorities supports the right decision at every level of the chain — every day, not once per planning cycle.

The thinking inside

TOC principles, encoded

Availability at minimum inventory

The goal at every level of the chain — purchasing, raw materials, semi-finished, finished goods: guarantee availability while holding the least stock needed to do so.

The buffer is the signal

System performance is monitored in the buffer — stock buffers in the supply chain, time buffers in production and projects. Buffer penetration is the one priority everyone shares.

Neither under- nor over-protected

Under-protection causes shortages; over-protection causes excess inventory. C&DS navigates between the two by making buffer status visible and actionable.

Commit on reality

Due dates are promised only after the constraint has been consulted. The disappointment that used to be built into every promise disappears at the source.

Analyse holes, not sizes

The highest-leverage improvement comes from analysing why buffers get consumed — not from debating how big they should be. POOGI institutionalises that loop.

Approximately right

In Goldratt's words: better approximately right than precisely wrong. C&DS doesn't chase decimal precision — it keeps decisions robust across the whole range of uncertainty.

Why C&DS

Software backed by the people who implement it

  • Forty years of TOC field experience compiled into the algorithms — not a generic APS with a TOC label
  • Implemented in months, not years — Deknudt Mirrors went live in six
  • Runs on top of the ERP you already own; the ERP stays the system of record
  • Implementation, training and support by the same TOC consultants who designed the process

See C&DS on your own data

Bring an extract of your orders, stock and routings. In a working session we'll show you where your constraint sits — and what C&DS would tell your team to do first, tomorrow morning.
